According to the distinguished Jesuit priest José Martinez Terrero, General Eleazar Lopez Contreras, during his presidential administration (1936-1941), “mandated the promotion of cooperatives in the Bolivarian Society of Venezuela,” a move which, according to him, “constitutes one of the most effective means of realizing the political tenets of ‘The Liberator’ (Simón Bolívar).” In his own book called “THE THOUGHTS OF BOLIVAR THE LIBERATOR” General López Contreras recounts that when he was invited to the constitution of the Bolivarian Society of Medellin, Colombia on July 24th, 1946 , he said the following: “When the Bolivarian Society of Caracas was formed in 1938, in an official capacity, the new statutes deemed that the Center was authorized to organize cooperatives … thus trying to materialize, as it has been said, the thoughts, the spirit and the humanitarian awareness of the Father of the Nation.” Read more on http://priven.nhlf.org/bolivar-and-cooperativism-by-professor-carlos-molina-camacho/|| First Global PROUT Conference, 7 to July 9, 2011, Caracas, Venezuela

¿Qué es la consciencia? ¿Cómo se desarrolla la misma? ¿Cómo a raíz de esto existen diferentes teorías para el desarrollo de la consciencia? Vamos a comenzar por estudiar ligeramente el pensamiento de Sarkar. Prabhat Sarkar, del siglo pasado, es un gran filósofo con un pensamiento integral, creador del movimiento internacional que nos congrega en estos tres días aquí. Su pensamiento es integral, él nos habla de la necesidad de una revolución global holística, espiritual, socialista y cooperativa. Para ello él tiene un pensamiento en múltiples áreas, como por ejemplo el estudio de la esencia humana, el origen del universo, la psicología social y la triada que vamos a estudiar: el Neo humanismo – Prout y la teoría del ciclo social. Nosotros quisiéramos que todos ustedes ahorita se imaginaran en un vagón del metro a una hora de alta concurrencia, el aislamiento, el calor, la angustia y la ansiedad los acompaña. La espera de la parada se hace insoportable. De repente el tren se para en su estación y con mucha dificultad usted logra atravesar a otras personas que están en el mismo estado que usted, logra por fin encontrar aquella salida que lo lleva a respirar un aire menos denso, calmo, que lo transporta nuevamente a su realidad tranquila y amplia. Ahora, imagínese que vive constantemente en este estado de angustia, hacinado, con poca luz, con poca o casi nada de agua. Sabe que el tren nunca se parará en la estación correspondiente. Sabe que nunca se bajará para poder darle continuidad a su vida. In Barlovento, we have a project called Centro Madre (“Mother Center”). I came to Barlovento with a small international team of AMURT volunteers due to the tragedy of landslides in 1999. Not only was the state Vargas affected (where an estimated 50,000 people died), but also in Barlovento there was terrible flooding. We went there to do temporary relief work, and after six months there was an opportunity to start a long-term project. This is how Centro Madre began. Centro Madre’s vision is to offer the local people, particularly the population of the five nearest rural villages, a variety of activities, projects and opportunities for personal growth, economic development, and social and spiritual growth so they can better defend themselves against economic exploitation, racism, etc. During the 11 years I’ve worked there, I sometimes feel that it are the poor people that can least defend themselves against the materialist attack, against exploitation. For me it is very rewarding to be there, to help and contribute, to be together with them, to grow together, to see in whatever way I can help them to better defend themselves, to strengthen both themselves and their communities... The name of our cooperative means Participative Management. We want to present the results of our study on the solidarity economy sector in Venezuela. The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) is an organization made of millions of cooperativists throughout the world that has been carrying out both qualitative and quantitative research in various countries to determine the reality of the cooperative movement in the world. In the case of Venezuela, we have formed an alliance with ICA to carry out this research on the social economy of the country. Because all over the world people are wondering what is happening with Venezuela and the cooperatives boom in Venezuela.
